WIT Angels, women investors club, reaches over €1 million invested in 14 startups

WIT Angels, the venture investment club dedicated to women investors, reaches an important milestone: over €1 million invested in 14 Startups from France, UK, USA and Romania. With 14 startups funded, over 100 women engaged in venture investment, and a commitment to transformative innovation, WIT Angels Club solidifies its role in bridging the gender wealth gap.

Since its first investment in January 2023, WIT Angels, an investment club dedicated to women investors, has surpassed €1 Million in investments this year, backed by an active network of women angel investors, 90% of whom are Romanian.

This achievement reflects the club’s relentless ambition to democratize access to venture investment for women, a group that represents only 8% to 10% of total investors in Europe.

WIT Angels Club has introduced the concept of venture investment to over 100 women, who actively participated in the club’s investment committees. These committees provided a platform for startups from across Europe to pitch their businesses.

As a result, 70% of these women became investors in at least one startup, underscoring the club’s commitment to fostering a robust and active investor community.

"Women are not just entering the venture investment ecosystem - they are reshaping it," said Andreea SAIA, co-founder of WIT Angels Club. "Through WIT Angels Club, we are proving that women are not only eager to invest, but are also driving meaningful change in the innovation landscape."

Investment interests

Ten out of fourteen startups in the portfolio are deeptech and medtech, reflecting a strong appetite among women investors for disruptive innovation with social impact.

A notable example is ADAPTA ROBOTICS, a pioneering Romanian robotics startup. WIT Angels Club became its first investor in 2023, showcasing that women know to assess and invest in sectors like robotics. In less than one year, the startup attracted the attention of other investors, such as Catalyst Romania, which decided to join the cap table by contributing €2 million to complete the seed round.

WIT Angels is an investment club focused on identifying the best investment opportunities for its members. In this context, 2024 marked the year in which the club expanded its network of co-investors across Europe. The current portfolio of startups includes ventures from France, the USA, the UK, and Romania.

Portfolio Highlights

In 2024, WIT Angels Club’s portfolio demonstrated robust performance:

• Four startups are preparing Series A rounds, achieving valuation increases of 2x to 4x within a year,
• A US-based startup quadrupled its monthly recurring revenue in just 12 months,
• A statistical modelling startup joined a French consortium alongside industry leaders like Renault, Alstom, and EasyMile,
• A medtech startup deployed its software across 70% of Romanian hospitals and clinics.

While two startups are facing scaling challenges, the overall portfolio performance highlights the club’s ability to identify high-potential ventures.

2025 and Beyond: Women as the New Face of Wealth and AI

WIT Angels Club is poised to build on its 2024 achievements by expanding its mission across Europe. "2025 will be the year we bring venture investment to a broader audience of women", said Andreea.

"As women amass greater wealth, their influence in shaping innovation and addressing gender inequalities will grow exponentially. We are facing the beginning of the AI revolution which will significantly impact our lives. If developing AI algorithms is not within their scope of work, women should focus on involving and investing in AI technologies that make sense for them. Women investors are crucially needed in this new AI-driven era to bring diverse perspectives, foster inclusive innovation, and ensure the technology addresses a broader spectrum of societal needs. We are grateful to all the women that embrace investment every day and take bold steps toward shaping a more inclusive and equitable future."
