This edition focused on technologies for Space and Defence, addressing the pressing need for Europe to strengthen its space and aerospace resilience. Participants collaborated to develop innovative prototypes, ideas, and solutions addressing three key challenges:
- Protection of space assets
- Space for defence
- Sovereign aerospace
The hackathon welcomed 471 participants from EU Member States, Norway, and Ukraine, including researchers, developers, students, entrepreneurs, innovation enthusiasts, and defence experts. Over one intensive weekend, participants co-operated to design and pitch 129 innovative solutions addressing real-world defence and space needs.
A Platform for Groundbreaking Defence Innovation
Over the course of three days, teams co-operated to design and prototype solutions that can enhance European resilience in space and defence.
Throughout the hackathon, participants benefitted from keynote speeches, as well as the guidance of mentors from defence, aerospace, and innovation sectors. The Central Hub streams enabled participants across Europe and Ukraine to engage with speakers and receive expert advice to refine their solutions.
Each local organiser hosted unique activities and offered prizes for their winning teams, which included cash awards, mentorship hours, and opportunities to test solutions in real-life scenarios.
