Seedstars World, the largest seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes, brought its Romanian round to a successful close during Seedstars Bucharest. The event took place this Sunday at AWE . Adaptive Work Environment space, and 10 selected startups were invited to present their companies in front of the local jury panel.

The local winner, XVision, a radiography analysis application that uses artificial intelligence to generate precise diagnostics of medical images, was named “Best Startup in Romania” for its innovative sustainable solution.

“Our team is truly excited that we managed to win the Seedstars Bucharest event! We felt that the other teams were really good so the the stakes were high. From our points of view, what's interesting about Seedstars is the network, professionals and stakeholders that the event put together. We want to make sure we access its resources, as well as aim to obtain the much-needed funds that we are currently raising. Our company will continue to work at business and product development making sure to bring the most robust system on the market and make it available to as many people as possible”, explains Bogdan Bercean, technical lead at XVision.

Xvision goes to Seedstars Summit

As a part of the prize, XVision will be participating at the Seedstars Summit CEE in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan in November and get a chance to go to the Seedstars Summit, which takes place in Switzerland, in April 2020. During this week-long event week-long event, they get the opportunity to meet 65+ winners from other fast growing economies, as well as investors and mentors from around the world. The final day of the Summit is dedicated to pitching in front of an audience of more than 1000 attendees, with the possibility of winning up to USD 500,000 in equity investment and other prizes.

The 8 startups pitched in front of the jury, including Andrei Dudoiu (Co-Founder, Human Finance), Agahuseyn Ahmadov (Regional Manager for CEE & Central Asia, Seedstars), Cristian Orasanu (Strategy Director, TECHCELERATOR), Cosmin Ochisor (Partner, GapMinder VC), Ciprian Stanescu (Managing Partner, Social Innovation Solutions) and Matei Dumitrescu (Vice-president, TechAngels).

Nummo, with its a professional e-learning software, designed for children with various deficiencies, came second and Oncochain, with its innovative EMR for connected oncology integrating blockchain and AI solutions, grabbed the last spot in the top 3. The other startups invited to pitch were AntiFragile, DefiroAds, Proptech - Milluu app., StockBerry, TripwithMojo.

After this stop at Romania Agahuseyn Ahmadov, Regional Manager for CEE at Seedstars, says “We are extremely happy that we met that many promising startups in Romania and can’t wait to hear their success stories in the near future. We are very excited to come back to Bucharest next year!”

Continuing on its world tour of fast-growing startup scenes in emerging markets, Seedstars World’s next stop is Minsk to select the best startup in Belarus. Seedstars World is looking for smart startups that solve regional issues and/or develop profitable products for the global market.
